Gotcha Day

To celebrate Emalyn's Gotcha Day, we gave her two gifts.  The first was a fun game and something we can enjoy doing together as a family.  The second was a hard bound book of our blog throughout our journey to adopt her.  This is something that I hope she will treasure for her entire life, whether she chooses to read it once or to read it over and over, I hope it will provide her with a small glimpse into the hearts of her Mommy and Daddy while we waited to bring her home and even after.  I hope it will point her to her Heavenly Father and all of the love He has lavished on all of us.

We also enjoyed dinner together at our favorite Chinese restuarant, Mr. Chen's.  Emalyn loved her authentic Chinese meal and so did we!

Emalyn: One Year in Our Arms

It's hard to believe that this was a whole year ago!

One year ago, a tearful and scared little girl was placed in our arms.  At the time she had very little light in her eyes, but as the days, and weeks, and months, and now a year, have gone by she has developed a bright light in those dark brown eyes.  She could not be a happier or more joyful child.  We have all survived this incredible year of change and facing the unknown by trusting that God would provide and that He would heal her heart and He has been faithful!  This has been an incredible year and we wouldn't change a single thing about it.  Our sweet Emalyn is amazing and we are all better for having her in our lives.

One Year Ago...

About this time one year ago we were settling into a hotel room in China, fighting jet lag and anxiety, and trying to imagine what the next day would bring. All the while, Emalyn slept in the only home she'd ever known for the last time not knowing that the next day she would lose everything in order to gain her forever family. God makes all things Good. Praise be to God!

Myla Grant is Ten Months Old!

It's official!  Myla Grant is growing up way too fast!  I literally woke up this morning feeling slightly panicked that she is only two months shy of a year old!  She is alot more active at ten months than Adair was!  She has been crawling since about eight and a half months and she is pulling up and cruising.  She loves to self feed and enjoys puffs, yogurt bites and baby mum mums.  She occasionally gets an added treat from one of her sisters when they forget she can't eat everything they do just yet. She loves to clap and will sometimes clap on command when we sing "If You're Happy and You Know It".  She loves bath time, music and playing in the playroom.  She continues to be the sweetest baby, but has developed a little temper and will let you know if she is hungry, tired or just aggravated   Unfortunately, I think this will be a necessary personality trait of the youngest of three sisters...she has to hold her own!

Daddy's Birthday

We love birthdays at our house! We celebrated Daddy's birthday with streamers, homemade pizza and baby bites! Happy 37th, Daddy!
